The Challenge:
Cost-cutting and process optimization happens everywhere, but when it happens in an operating room, the stakes include human life as well as bottom-line efficiency. In its quest to improve operating room processes and equipment while enhancing patient wellness outcomes, Dräger Medical developed Zeus, a system that integrates all acute forms of anesthesia applications, patient monitoring, and documentation.
The Objectivity/DB Solution:
We chose Objectivity/DB because of its high performance, reliability and ability to handle a large flow of complex information from all our many sensor and actuator sources
In addition to the manual control of fresh gas dosages, Zeus allows for automatic control of oxygen, carrier gas, and volatile anesthetics.
Zeus requires precision and real-time performance in storing and analyzing information from a variety of sensors, and monitoring for patterns in the information, as well as document management.
The Objectivity/DB Solution:
Embedding Objectivity/DB into Zeus allowed Dräger to enhance reliability and performance. Objectivity/DB’s real-time monitoring and analysis enables Zeus to make split-second changes to improve patient care in the operating room.
“We chose Objectivity/DB because of its high performance, reliability and ability to handle a large flow of complex information from all our many sensor and actuator sources,” according to Christoph Landowski, Platform Integration Manager for Dräger Medical.
“Zeus exemplifies how Objectivity/DB can be embedded in instruments and sophisticated applications to deliver unparalleled performance for our customer’s real-time mission-critical applications,” says Jay Jarrell, president and CEO of Objectivity.
